Getting There

Ostrava is in the far east of the Czech Republic, close to both the Polish and Slovak borders. Leoš Janáček Airport at Mošnov, about 25 km south of the centre, has flights from London, Munich, Warsaw and a handful of seasonal destinations.

By train, Ostrava-Svinov is the main station and is a stop on the Prague-Bratislava-Vienna corridor. The fast SC Pendolino and EC trains do Prague in about three hours and Vienna in three and a half. Krakow is just over two hours by direct train.

By road, Ostrava sits on the D1 motorway, four hours from Prague or about three hours from Vienna. The bus network is dense — RegioJet, FlixBus and Student Agency all run services from Prague and Brno.
