Café Savoy occupies a restored 19th-century coffee house across the river from Malá Strana, its vaulted and painted ceiling one of the most spectacular interiors of any café in Prague. The neo-renaissance decorations — gilded columns, elaborate cornice work, painted lunettes — give it the feel of a Viennese grand café transported to Bohemia.
The bakery counter at the entrance sells excellent pastries and croissants. The breakfast and brunch menus are the strength; the kitchen does a particularly good eggs benedict and house-made bread. It is slightly outside the main tourist flow, which keeps it calmer than the cafes around the square. Come on a weekday morning for the full effect.
