National rail museum behind the central station, full of working locomotives

Danmarks Jernbanemuseum is Denmark's national rail museum, set in a 1954 locomotive shed directly behind the central station. The collection includes royal carriages, freight stock, and dozens of locomotives — steam, diesel, and electric — many of them still functional and used on heritage trips around Funen.

The hall is large and atmospheric, with a working turntable in the centre. Children can ride a miniature railway in the courtyard, and a small cafe in a vintage carriage serves coffee and Danish pastries. Allow at least two hours.
