Getting There

Odense sits on the main Copenhagen–Aarhus rail line and the InterCity train from Copenhagen takes a little over an hour, every half hour through the day. The same line continues north to Aarhus (90 minutes) and west to Esbjerg. Trains arrive at Odense Banegård Center at the northern edge of the old town, a five-minute walk from the cathedral.

There is no commercial airport; international visitors generally fly into Copenhagen or Billund and then take the train. By car, the E20 motorway crosses Funen east to west and Odense is a few minutes off the main exit. The city is small enough to walk; rented bikes are an easier option than driving once you arrive.
