Restaurant Aarstiderne

Seasonal Danish cooking on a quiet cobbled side street

Aarstiderne ("the seasons") serves a constantly changing menu built around Funen produce — local lamb, root vegetables from nearby farms, fish from the strait, dairy from small producers. The dining room is in a 17th-century half-timbered building near the cathedral; service is unfussy and informed. Set menus of three to five courses pair well with the wine list, which leans heavily on small French and German growers.

This is the kind of place to book a long evening at. Prices are high by Odense standards but a fraction of comparable Copenhagen restaurants.
