Drachmanns Hus

Holger Drachmann was the most restless and theatrical of the Skagen artists — a poet, painter, and serial romantic who lived in Skagen on and off from the 1870s until his death in 1908. His house, Villa Pax, has been preserved as a museum and gives a vivid sense of his flamboyant personality. The rooms are full of books, paintings, and memorabilia from his various passions and love affairs.

Drachmann is buried at the top of a nearby dune overlooking the sea, which is exactly the kind of burial he would have arranged for himself. The grave is easy to find and worth a short detour.
