St. Elizabeth's Church

Elegant baroque Lutheran church in Pärnu's old centre.

St. Elizabeth's Church is one of the most graceful buildings in Pärnu's old centre, a baroque Lutheran church with a tall spire and a calm interior. It was named for Empress Elizabeth of Russia, whose reign shaped this region in the eighteenth century.

The church is worth a look for its organ and proportions rather than for any single spectacular artwork. It is also a useful landmark when threading the small streets between the museum, town hall, and Tallinn Gate.
