Salla Church

Salla Church is a plain post-war church built in 1950, after the old parish centre was lost beyond the new border. Its grey-stone form nods to Finland's medieval churches, but the building belongs very much to Salla's reconstruction story.

It is worth a quick look if you are already visiting the nearby war and reconstruction museum. The church was partly funded by Danish congregations, a small detail that says a lot about how widely Salla's wartime losses were felt.
