Biarritz has a good restaurant scene for a town its size, with a strong Basque culinary tradition that emphasizes excellent raw materials — Atlantic fish and shellfish, mountain-cured ham, sheep's milk cheeses, and the piment d'Espelette pepper that appears in nearly everything. The Basque coast is also serious pintxos country: the small bar snacks mounted on bread, which you will find everywhere from San Sebastián to Bayonne.
