Getting Around

Biarritz's town centre is compact and easy to cover on foot — the Grande Plage, Rocher de la Vierge, market, and old port are all within about a kilometre of each other. The Côte des Basques beach is a 15-minute walk south of the centre.

ATCRB buses connect Biarritz with Bayonne and Saint-Jean-de-Luz along the coast. The local Chronoplus network covers Biarritz, Bayonne, and Anglet with good frequency. Taxis are available at the train station and airport. Cycling along the coast path is pleasant in good weather; bike rental is available in town. Most people find a car useful for exploring the wider Basque country — the Pyrenean villages, the Spanish border crossings, and the surf spots further along the coast are all within an hour's drive.
