Beaches

Argeles-sur-Mer has several kilometres of sandy coastline, plus a few quieter spots where the sand gives way to rock. The town has earned the Handiplage label for its efforts to make beaches accessible to visitors with disabilities.

Le Racou

At the southern end of the beach strip, Le Racou marks the point where the long sandy coast ends and the rocky Cote Vermeille begins. It is quieter than the main beaches -- no water sports, just sun and sea. A few restaurants and cafes sit nearby. It can get busy in high summer, but for most of the season it feels like a different world from the crowded main beach.

Plage des Pins

A wide sandy beach close to the town centre, popular with both tourists and locals. Bars, restaurants, and water sports -- diving, surfing, windsurfing -- are all on offer. The rocky creeks along the coast here are good for snorkelling and scuba diving.

Plage Nord

The most exposed beach, catching the Tramontane and Marin winds. That makes it one of the best spots for surfing and windsurfing on this part of the coast, though conditions can be challenging. A wide stretch of sand with plenty of room even in summer.
