The Moselle gives Epinal its softest edge. Paths and bridges along the water make an easy walk, especially in the evening when the town centre begins to quiet down.
Follow the river rather than rushing from museum to church. The view back toward the castle hill is one of the simplest pleasures in town, and it costs nothing.
