Cours d'Ajot

The Cours d'Ajot is a long promenade on the cliffside above the military port, planted with lime trees and offering an uninterrupted view over the Rade de Brest — one of the world's finest natural harbours, almost completely enclosed by the Crozon Peninsula to the south. On clear days you can see the Presqu'île de Crozon and, beyond it, the Atlantic.

The promenade was laid out in the 18th century and is named after an engineer of the Ponts et Chaussées who supervised its construction. It survived the wartime bombing largely intact. The view is best in the late afternoon, when the light catches the water of the Rade. Below, in the military port, you can often see warships and submarines alongside the naval facilities.
