The Vallon du Stang Alar is Brest's green ravine, a sheltered landscape of paths, streams, and planting on the eastern side of the city. It is closely tied to the National Botanical Conservatory, whose gardens give the valley more botanical interest than a normal city park.
Come here when Brest's naval stone and traffic start to feel hard-edged. The valley is good for a slow walk, especially for anyone interested in rare plants, wet greenery, and the way Breton cities tuck nature into unlikely folds of land.
