Wilhelminenaue

Landscaped riverside park created from Bayreuths former state garden show grounds

Wilhelminenaue is Bayreuth's modern green lung, laid out along the Red Main on land reshaped for the 2016 Bavarian State Garden Show. It is not as historic as the Hermitage or the opera house, but it gives the city a generous outdoor space for walking, cycling, and cooling off between museum stops.

The park works best as a low-pressure break: lawns, paths, playgrounds, water features, and open views rather than a single headline monument. If you are in Bayreuth with children or need a quiet hour away from Wagner and Baroque interiors, it earns its place.
