At the far western tip of Juist, where the dunes finally give way to salt-marsh and the Wadden Sea, stands the Domäne Bill — a former state farmstead built in 1898 to drain and reclaim the land at the western end of the island. The complex includes a long-roofed farmhouse, barns, and outbuildings, and is now used as a guest house and restaurant.
It is the natural endpoint of a walk or bike ride from the village — about an hour on foot — and the terrace is the place to stop for cake and a coffee before turning back. The view from here, with the Memmert bird-island visible across the water and the lighthouse off to the south, gives the most complete sense of how exposed and improvised these islands really are.
