Schloss Mosigkau is a small Rococo palace southwest of Dessau, built as a summer residence and still furnished with the kind of courtly detail that makes the eighteenth century feel close. It is much more intimate than the grander palaces of Saxony and Prussia, which is part of its charm.
The palace works well as a half-day contrast to Dessau's Bauhaus sites. Where the Bauhaus is clean lines and modern experiment, Mosigkau is painted ceilings, formal rooms, and garden geometry: two very different German design worlds within easy reach of one another.
