Eating Out

Arta is not a destination dining town, but it eats well in the unfussy Epirote tradition — slow-cooked meats, river fish, mountain greens, and a serious local devotion to oranges and orange-based desserts. Most of the worthwhile tavernas sit either along the river near the bridge or in the narrow lanes behind the main square. Lunch is the better meal: many places close after the afternoon and reopen only in summer for dinner.
