Arta sits on the main north-south road between Ioannina and the Ambracian Gulf. There is no airport; the closest are Ioannina (about 75 km north) for domestic flights and Preveza-Aktion (about 60 km southwest) for seasonal European charters.
KTEL buses run several times daily from Ioannina (about 1 hour 15 minutes), Preveza, and Athens (about 5 hours). The bus station is at the northern edge of the centre, a short walk from the main square. The town is small enough that arriving by car is straightforward, and parking around the historical centre is usually easy outside Greek holidays.
