Arta is at its best in spring, when the citrus groves around the town are in flower and the surrounding hills are green. April and May are warm but not hot, with long light evenings perfect for sitting beside the bridge. Autumn is similarly pleasant.
Summer is workable but Epirus inland gets seriously hot in July and August — over 35C is normal, and Arta has none of the sea breeze that softens the coast. Winter is mild but wet; many small tavernas close, though the main sights stay open year round. The Festival of Saint Theodora in early March brings the town's saint out in procession and is one of the few moments where Arta feels busy.
