Epirus is an outdoor region — the Pindus mountains, the Vikos Gorge, the Zagori stone villages, and the Voidomatis river are its main draw. Ioannina, the regional capital on its lake, adds history and urban life. The region rewards those who slow down: the stone bridges, the wild herbs, the views from the gorge rim are not things you can absorb from a moving car.
