Eating Out

Kalambaka has more restaurants than you'd expect for a small town, most of them catering directly to visitors. The standard is decent without being remarkable — taverna food done competently, with local Thessaly dishes alongside the Greek standards. Look for restaurants that display handwritten boards with the day's specials rather than laminated tourist menus. The streets west of the main square, heading toward the rocks, tend to have the better establishments.
