Shopping

Metsovo is one of the better places in Greece to buy genuinely local crafts — partly because the Tossizza Foundation has spent decades supporting traditional weaving, woodwork and silver. The lanes off the central square are lined with small shops selling hand-woven kilims, sheepskins, copper, and wooden objects (spoons, plates, walking sticks) carved from local oak.

The other thing worth shopping for is food and drink: Metsovone cheese, smoked sausages, Vlach honey, and the Katogi Averoff wines. Several small grocers around the square will vacuum-pack cheese for travel.
