Magazia and Molos Beaches

Magazia is the main beach of Skyros Town, a long stretch of pale sand that starts just below the town and runs northward into Molos, the two beaches effectively forming a single continuous strip. The water is clear and sheltered enough for swimming through the summer months, and the beach is close enough to town to walk to easily — a rare convenience on a Greek island, where the good beaches are usually a drive or boat ride away.

The beach has a handful of tavernas and bars along its length, busy in July and August, quiet in shoulder season. The northern end at Molos gets progressively less crowded as you walk. For swimming away from any crowds, the island has several smaller beaches on its western and northern shores — Atsitsa, Kyra Panagia, and the small coves around Pefkos — most of which require a car or scooter to reach.
