A smaller stone fort on the eastern cliffs facing Inis Oírr, Dún Fearbhaí is unusual for its nearly square shape — most Irish ring forts are circular. Terraces along the inside of the walls may have served as defensive platforms or had some ceremonial purpose. The original entrance faces north but is hard to approach; most visitors scramble in from the south side where the ground level has risen. Worth the walk for the fine view of the low-lying northern part of the island.
