Pickle on Camden Street is Dublin's most acclaimed Indian restaurant, and one of the most interesting places to eat in the city. The menu draws on north Indian traditions — Punjabi, Awadhi, Mughlai — with a focus on slow-cooked meat dishes, tandoor breads, and complex spicing. The lamb preparations, in particular, are exceptional.
The room is small and fills quickly; booking ahead is necessary. It is not the place for mild curries in the British-Irish tradition — the kitchen cooks with genuine authority and the food has real heat and depth. The tasting menu is a good introduction; returning visitors tend to order à la carte and linger. Prices are moderate by Dublin standards.
