St Patrick's Park is a small public garden that wraps around the south and west walls of St Patrick's Cathedral, offering a green space in an otherwise densely built neighbourhood. It was laid out in 1904 on land that had been a slum, cleared at the instigation of the Guinness family.
Along the cathedral wall runs the Literary Parade — a series of stone plaques commemorating Irish writers from Swift and Sheridan through Shaw, Yeats, Synge, and Beckett. It's a pleasant short walk and a quiet contrast to the busy streets of the Liberties around it.
