San Francesco stands on Piazza Senatore Manni in the heart of the historic centre, a Baroque rebuild of an older Franciscan church. The facade is restrained — flat pilasters and a simple pediment — but inside the nave is decorated with eighteenth-century stucco work and altar paintings by local masters.
The adjoining convent, partially demolished in the nineteenth century, was for centuries the largest religious complex in Orte, and what survives is now used as municipal offices. The church itself is open most mornings.
