Righi sits above Genoa on the ridge behind the old city, where the dense streets finally give way to air, forts, and footpaths. The Zecca-Righi funicular makes the climb easy, and the view back over the port explains the city's geography better than any map.
Come late in the day if the weather is clear. From the belvedere you can follow the old walls, pick out the harbour basins, and see how tightly Genoa is wedged between the Ligurian Sea and the hills.
