Eating Out

Salentine food is at the simpler end of Italian cooking — fresh fish, octopus, sea urchins in season, plus orecchiette, fave e cicorie (broad bean purée with wild chicory), and the local round bread puccia. Most of the good places sit in the small lanes of the historic centre or along the harbour. Reserve in summer; in winter many places close.
