Villa de Pasquale is a small but worthwhile architectural stop for travellers interested in Messina beyond the cathedral and waterfront. The villa belongs to the city's Liberty-era rebuilding story, when the catastrophic 1908 earthquake forced Messina to remake much of itself in a new century's style.
It is not a blockbuster sight, and access can be limited, so check locally before building a day around it. As part of a southern Messina wander, though, it gives a more intimate view of the city's domestic architecture than the larger churches and public monuments.
