Eating Out in Magione

Magione is not a dining destination, but eating here is pleasant and honest. The local kitchen draws on the same Umbrian staples found across the region — hand-rolled pasta, pork from the Colfiorito plateau, black truffles in season, and the freshwater fish that come out of Lake Trasimeno. Perch, tench, and eel from the lake appear on most menus that take their local identity seriously. Portions are generous and prices are low compared to Perugia or Cortona.

The town has a handful of trattorie and restaurants, mostly clustered around the main square and along the road toward San Feliciano. San Feliciano itself, the lakeside hamlet a few kilometres west, has a small fishing cooperative and a couple of places where the lake fish is particularly fresh.
