Things to Do

Chioggia rewards a slow morning. Walk the length of the Corso del Popolo from north to south, ducking into the Duomo and the side calli, and arrive at the southern tip in time for the Piazzetta Vigo and a coffee with a view across the lagoon. Time it so you catch the fish market before it closes around midday, when the lagoon's haul of the night is spread out on the marble. Afternoons are for the long sandy beach at Sottomarina — a short walk over the bridge and you are in a different town entirely.
