Gardaland

Gardaland, the largest amusement park in Italy, sits just east of Peschiera at Castelnuovo del Garda. The park has more than 30 rides including several genuinely good roller coasters — Raptor (a wing coaster), Oblivion (a dive coaster), and the older Magic Mountain. There is also a Sea Life aquarium, a Legoland Water Park, and a hotel complex.

For families with younger children Gardaland is an easy day trip from anywhere on the southern shore. The park is busiest from late June through August; the line for Oblivion can stretch to two hours in peak season, so arrive early or buy a fast-track ticket. The park runs a free shuttle bus from Peschiera railway station.

A story
Gardaland opened in 1975 with a roller coaster, a few rides, and a giant plastic crocodile that became the park's mascot. It is now the largest amusement park in Italy and consistently ranks among the busiest in Europe, drawing around three million visitors a year. The park's Magic Mountain coaster, Raptor, Oblivion, and Mammut are well-engineered rides, and the Sea Life aquarium and Legoland Water Park have been added in recent years.
