The main square of Peschiera, Piazza Ferdinando di Savoia (often still called Piazza Bettotti by locals), sits in the centre of the walled old town. It is a modest, rectangular space lined with cafes, the Palazzo del Comando, and the elegant 17th-century church of San Martino. The square is the natural meeting point in the evening passeggiata.
The cafes here are pleasant but tourist-priced; for better value, walk a few minutes to the lakefront cafes on the other side of the harbour. The piazza hosts a small Saturday market and a regular livery of summer concerts and craft stalls. It is a good place to sit with an aperitivo before dinner.
