Ferizaj (known in Serbian as Uroševac) sits in the Nerodimka river valley in southern Kosovo, roughly 35 km south of Pristina along the main highway connecting the capital to the North Macedonian border. It is one of Kosovo's larger towns and has a lively, compact downtown with plenty of cafes and shops.
The most notable landmark is the Church of St. Uroš, an Orthodox church associated with the medieval Nemanjić dynasty. The church is a KFOR-protected site guarded by the Greek Hellas Battalion since the late 1990s. It stands near the Madhe Mosque, and the two buildings in close proximity speak directly to the town's layered past. The town centre itself is navigable on foot — traffic in Ferizaj is tight and the main through-roads run one-way.
Ferizaj is primarily a transit stop for travellers moving between Pristina and North Macedonia, but its cafes and market streets make it worth a brief stop.
