Liepāja is about 220 kilometres from Riga by road, a drive of around three hours. Direct buses run several times daily from Riga's bus station; the journey takes roughly three hours and costs under 10 euros. There is no fast rail connection — the train service is slow and infrequent, making bus the standard option.
Liepāja has a small airport (LPX) with occasional charter flights but no regular scheduled international services as of 2025. Flying to Riga and taking the bus is the practical international option. Coming from Lithuania, the coastal road from Palanga or Klaipeda takes about 90 minutes.
