The old town has antique shops, amber jewellers (amber from the Lithuanian coast is genuine and good value), and the Marginiai craft shop on Sukileliu selling wood carvings, linen, and folk art. The Old Market on Turgaus Aikste is worth visiting even if you are not buying — a traditional Lithuanian market with produce, clothing, and second-hand goods. The Akropolis mall on Taikos has major chains and a cinema.
