The Chaim Frenkel Villa is an elegant Art Nouveau house built in 1908 by Šiauliai's richest pre-war industrialist, the leather magnate Chaim Frenkel. Today it houses a branch of the Šiauliai Aušros Museum, with exhibits on the city's late-19th and early-20th-century Jewish community — which numbered close to half the city's population before the Holocaust.
The interior has been partly restored to its original appearance, with a Jugendstil staircase and a couple of period drawing rooms. Take time in the small garden behind, which keeps its original layout.
