The Church of Saint Nicholas is Kumanovo's main Orthodox church. Built in 1851 on the site of an earlier church, it was designed by Andrej Damjanov, one of the region's notable 19th-century church architects.
The white exterior and arcaded enclosure are plain at first glance, but the interior has the richer work: galleries, frescoes, and church furniture that make it the most rewarding religious building in the centre.
