After the Azure Window fell in 2017, the Wied il-Mielaħ arch on Gozo's northwest coast inherited its claim — a smaller but still impressive natural limestone arch where a steep wadi meets the sea. The drive ends near the village of Għarb and a short walk along the cliff edge brings you to the viewpoint above the window.
It's a good destination for an early evening — sunset hits the rock at the right angle, and a couple of cliff-edge spots make for fine photos. The walk can be extended along the coast to the deep cleft of Wied il-Għasri for a swim, or south to the rural church of San Dimitri perched on its own headland.
