Mountain cooking dominates: smoked trout from the lakes, kacamak (cornmeal mash with cheese and clotted cream), spit-roasted lamb, cicvara (a buttery cornmeal porridge), heavy meat-and-potato stews, and Montenegrin cheeses from the high pastures. The best food is in the small katuns (shepherd's settlements) and in the wooden tavern-style restaurants in and around Kolašin.
