Amersfoort may not have Amsterdam's nightlife, but for its size it does well. The old centre has a good concentration of cafés and bars, many clustered around the Hof and along the Groenmarkt. The scene leans social rather than wild — expect good beer, conversation, and live music rather than thumping clubs. Things get livelier as the evening goes on, especially on weekends.
