EYE Film Institute Netherlands is Amsterdam's national film museum and archive, housed in the sharp white building on the north bank of the IJ. Its cinemas show classic, art-house, experimental, and festival films, while exhibitions dig into film history and moving-image culture.
Even if you skip the screenings, the building is worth the free ferry ride from Centraal Station. The lobby and waterfront terrace give one of the cleanest views back across the water to old Amsterdam.
