The oldest building in Amsterdam, sitting surreally in the middle of the red-light district. Probably consecrated in 1306, the Oude Kerk (Old Church) was the parish church of medieval Amsterdam and the place where Rembrandt's wife Saskia is buried. The contrast between the Gothic interior and the neighbourhood outside is hard to overstate.
