Summer is the busiest season and the best time for waterfront terraces and the ferry to Marken. The Klaphek Festival brings live music from local and regional bands during the summer months, and the Tulip Time Festival in May fills the streets with dancing and traditional costumes. Remembrance Day on May 4th and Liberation Day on May 5th are observed with ceremonies and evening celebrations. Winter is quieter but Christmas festivities start in mid-November and give the town a cozy atmosphere.
