The Lysgårdsbakken ski jumping arena sits on the hillside directly above Lillehammer, its two distinctive jumps visible from much of the town below. The hills were built for the 1994 Winter Olympics and have been maintained and upgraded since; they host FIS Ski Jumping World Cup events and are used for training and competition throughout the winter season.
In summer, the chairlift that carries competitors to the top of the 120-metre large hill is open to the public, giving excellent panoramic views over Lillehammer, Lake Mjøsa, and the surrounding mountains. The wheeled bobsled experience — a specially adapted summer bob that uses the original Olympic sliding track — runs from spring through autumn and is one of the more memorable experiences available in Lillehammer. The adjacent Håkon's Hall ice arena and Kanthaugen Freestyle Arena complete the cluster of Olympic venues at this end of town.
