Vikten is a small village on the outer western coast of Flakstadøya, reached by a winding side road off the E10 that drops down to a pebble beach facing the open Arctic Ocean. The village is best known for two craft workshops: the Glasshytta, a glassblower founded in 1975 by Åsvar Tangrand, which is open in summer with regular demonstrations, and the neighbouring pottery, Åses Pottery, also open to visitors.
The pebble beach behind the village is one of the wildest in Lofoten — exposed, with no shelter, and stunning in evening light. Combine the workshops with a walk along the shore and a slow drive back to the E10 through the side road, which has dramatic mountain views.
