Tvedestrand's bar and cafe scene is concentrated along the quayside and comes properly alive in summer, when the terrace tables fill from late afternoon and stay busy well into the mild Nordic evenings. The pace is relaxed — people nurse a beer or a coffee for an hour while watching boats manoeuvre in the guest marina. Out of season, options thin out considerably, but a handful of spots stay open year-round for locals.
