Museum branch in the actual pharmacy on Ghetto Heroes' Square where Tadeusz Pankiewicz served during the war

A branch of the Museum of Krakow on Ghetto Heroes' Square, occupying the actual pharmacy that operated within the ghetto. The reconstructed interior and the testimonies gathered here document daily life and the liquidation of the ghetto from the vantage point of a man who chose to stay. Small and intense, it pairs naturally with a visit to the square outside.

A story
Pharmacist Tadeusz Pankiewicz refused to abandon his shop when the Krakow Ghetto was sealed around it in 1941, becoming the only non-Jew permitted to live inside; his pharmacy was a refuge, a message drop and a source of medicines and hair dye for those hiding their identity, and he was later honoured as Righteous Among the Nations.
